Democracy Now! "The legendary Detroit activist and community organizer Grace Lee Boggs has been involved with the civil rights, Black Power, labor, environmental justice, and feminist movements over the past seven decades. She was born to Chinese immigrant parents in 1915. In 1992, she co-founded the Detroit Summer youth program to rebuild and renew her city. Her ninety-fifth birthday is June 27th, the day after the close of the US Social Forum in Detroit."

As demolitions begin, community activists see Detroit urban renewal plan as land grab
Democracy Now! in Detroit, "where demolition crews have begun tearing town 3,000 buildings that the city has deemed dangerous as part of an estimated 10,000 buildings set to be demolished over the next four years. City officials claim the demolitions are taking place in abandoned neighborhoods and that they will be replaced with farmland. While the Mayor’s urban renewal plan has high-level backing, many have condemned it as a form of land grabbing."

Rally to Save Hugo Boss Jobs!
Cleveland Jobs with Justice
Wednesday, April 7
3:30pm - 4:30pm
4600 Tiedemann Rd, Brooklyn Heights OH 44144
Hugo Boss has retreated from its position on closing its
Ohio plant and has agreed to return to the bargaining table
on Thursday, April 8, 2010. That's a big victory, thanks to
support from concerned citizens like you and to the threat
of a Labor Board complaint. But to actually win a fair
contract and keep the plant open, the Hugo Boss workers need
you to show your support again. Please join us for a major
rally at the Hugo Boss plant on Wednesday, April 7, 3:30 pm.
A big turnout the day before talks begin will show Hugo Boss
that they have to really negotiate, rather than demand huge
pay cuts backed by the threat of closing the plant.
