This syllabus was organized by some women from Pittsburgh, interested in the topic of class and effects of classism. Readings are all available online. The intention of this course is to create a safe space for people in Cleveland to gather together and be part of a learning/unlearning experience with others.


The course starts tonight at 7pm and will be held at Pilgrim Church in Tremont

5) Movie! Stranger with a Camera – 61 minutes –


Stranger with a Camera investigates the 1967 killing of Canadian filmmaker Hugh O’Connor who was shot while capturing images of poverty in the Kentucky coalfields. Director Elizabeth Barret looks at the death of O’Connor and the moticiation of Hobart Ison, the irate property owner who shot him. Through her exploration of the tragic incident and its aftermath, Barret refelcts on the nature and consequence of med ia making.
